Week 3: Computer Aided Design

This week I started learning about computer aided design. Before this module started, I have learned Adobe Photoshop which is for 2d raster and Adobe Illustrator which is for 2D vector design. Therefore, I felt grateful that I already had some skills beforehand. I was quite surprised as I didnt know these software could be used for prototyping as I've mainly been using them for graphics design. Above are some of my favourite raster and vector designs I have done.

When first learning 3D modelling I tried creating this practice shape

I first created a sketch consisting of a rectangle with a circle

I then extruded the sketch leaving out a gap in the circle

I then created a rectangle sketch at the bottom

I then extruded the new rectangle and this is the shape I created

Other than the practice shape,I tried creating a chess piece. I learned that vectors could be imported into fusion 360 to create sketches. After importing the vector, I split the sketch in half to revolve it in to a chess piece
